Spacex

Established in 1974, Spacex is a contemporary visual art organisation located in the centre of Exeter. We enable access to contemporary art in the South West via our programme of exhibitions, projects and events.

We work with artists to realise ambitions, pursue new directions and take risks. Spacex has worked with many highly esteemed artists including Bridget Riley, Richard Long, Susan Hiller, Yinka Shonibare, Grayson Perry, and Emily Wardill. Spacex is a registered educational charity and has an excellent record of delivering accessible, learning projects for young people and families.

Collaboration lies at the heart of Spacex. We are continually forming long lasting relationships with artists, curators and partners from local institutions through to international organisations, helping to promote sustainable development in the arts. In 2016 Spacex moved from 45 Preston Street to a new project base at Exeter Phoenix.
