A Soft Introduction is a new body of work developed by Laura Edmunds. It considers slippages, things without edges and the transmission of residual affect through drawing, installation and sound; an attempt to capture that which cannot be held. This body of work sees Edmunds using drawing to capture a sense of energy within space, reflecting on the idea that we are impermanent. Through sound, shape-shifting boundaries are explored - becoming container and contained.

CLOSING EVENT - Join Laura on Sunday 24 September between 2 - 4pm to see the exhibition, and see a responsive sound performance by artist Ian Watson (Cardiff) at 3pm. 


Selected to develop this new body of work for Visual Art Plymouth’s Plymouth Platform 2017, Laura Edmunds (b. 1989, Cardiff) is a Welsh artist currently based at KARST studios in Plymouth, UK. Laura is represented by TEN Gallery in Cardiff, Wales. A Soft Introduction has been supported by Arts Council England and Visual Arts Plymouth.
