"This exhibition is the first time that I’ve been able to consolidate a single theme within a gallery in a solo presentation.

"Lately I have been exploring some quite distinct phases in my work. However, threading (especially using rainbow thread) has become my current and most focused preoccupation. I work in every spare moment that I have - which includes the highly rewarding time spent searching for the original source images.

"After working with traditional paper collage styles, I find this new body of work reflects more clearly my ongoing obsession with collecting photography. By using thread rather than other photographic materials I find that my reaction to the original is more acute and direct.

"Rainbows and Butterflies is a fantasy space in time - old and new, traditional and modern, masculine and feminine.”

Jamie Rawlings, Bristol, UK. March 2018.
