Deadline Sunday 15 July 2018
Artist Elena Brake’s Plymouth Art Weekender 2018 project Cleaning in Progress will be a light-hearted, participatory performance based in Plymouth City Centre. On Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th September, members of the public will be invited to assist in ‘cleaning’ Plymouth’s trees, leaves and urban furniture with domestic cleaning equipment. We are seeking 10 Plymouth residents to be a major part of the delivery of this project.
We are offering the opportunity for 10 local people to work with Elena Brake to develop and deliver the performance piece and engage with the public. In addition to receiving training at a one day workshop with the artist, you will also receive a performer bursary of £200.
You don’t need to be a trained performer or artist, we are looking for people with interests in any of the following:
- Changing perceptions and paying attention to everyday surroundings
- Environmental issues
- Engaging with people and introducing them to contemporary art
- Live performance, theatre and/or public art
Please be aware that performers must be available for a one day workshop and for as much of the Art Weekender as possible.
