English Riviera Photography Showcase 2021
Finding A Way Home is a multi-stranded photographic and digital artwork exhibition hosted on the English Riviera
Featuring a headline exhibition, a showcase of 5-8 spotlighted artists, and an open selection of individual works, this South West first invites submissions of work that consider the idea of “home” both in the traditional sense and the contemporary context in light of the global pandemic.
The focus of the call opportunities is the theme of “Home”. There are no restrictions on how this is interpreted by applicants, but we anticipate that recent global events may play into responses. Additionally, artists may wish to consider:
- Personal responses to their own home
- Home as a multifunctional space
- Home as an environment, a shared space, a safe place
- Isolation and the solitary experience of home
- Home as a transient and fragile space
- Belonging and togetherness
- Physicality vs Spirituality of home – the objects, items and buildings vs the emotions, concepts and constructs that define these spaces
- The wider construct of home and place socially – identity, nationalism, patriotism.
