Figuring Out... Making an Exhibition

Short course looking at the ins and outs of organising and curating a solo/group exhibition.

Tuesday 21 & 28 June, 6-8pm

With many galleries, artist-led spaces and institutions programming several years in advance, DIY exhibitions can be a significant opportunity to get your work seen. Led by independent curator and mentor, Mark Devereux, this online short course will look at the central aspects of creating a successful solo or group exhibition.

Starting with the idea and the artwork, we will look at the core milestones of creating your exhibition including: devising the concept, securing a venue, creating a communications strategy, curating the exhibition, facilitating events and evaluating its success. You will be encouraged to consider your own practice or curatorial interests via practical exercises, punctuated by case studies and information shared from Mark’s 15-year career.

Designed for emerging / early-career visual artists and curators, this online short course will be delivered over two separate evenings in June to give you the tools and knowledge to start planning your next exhibition. In addition to the workshop we are pleased to offer participating artists a 10% discount on booking a one-to-one mentoring and advice session with Mark Devereux to support your exhibition planning. Please note: there are limited numbers of places available for these sessions and will be booked on a first-come-first-served basis.
