Reaching Resilience is a six month programme to support visual artists in Bristol to be supported by their practice. It's a catalyst to start a step change in visual arts in Bristol, supporting both stronger individual artist practices and a stronger sector together.

This programme has emerged both from the needs of artists through Covid-19 but also the wider systemic issues that have made being a visual artist in Bristol increasingly precarious.

Through Reaching Resilience we will create a peer network, raise the profile of Bristol artists and their stories, support professional development and increase sustainability by increasing earned income routes.

We are looking to assemble a diverse group of emerging to established artists with a breadth of career and life experiences and approaches to visual arts practice. You may have previously been supported by public funds or not. We welcome applications from artists that are:

Based in West of England, which we define as Bristol, Bath & North East Somerset, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire (West of England LEP).

Committed to developing their practice.

Will benefit from and/ or can contribute to this project.

Acknowledging under representation in visual arts in Bristol, we encourage applicants from BAME backgrounds, and D/deaf and/or disabled practitioners.

Artists selected by our Artist Steering Group will be represented on our new online platform launching summer 2020 and will be able to apply for various opportunities over the next six months.
