Jay Harper PEOPLE
New paintings by Bristol based artist Jay Harper.
Jay Harper is a figurative painter whose practice often focuses on people.
The works are heavily influenced by shape and space. Her subjects are often painted in muted tones which sets an overall mood. Paintings are sometimes planned, sometimes not. Jay often creates a mood board of imagery that informs and focuses her work or she goes straight into a painting letting her feelings lead the process. The paintings that come straight ‘from her head’ often appear more abstract in comparison to works created from a mood board.
For this recent ‘PEOPLE’ series Jay has also worked from life, photographing and painting people in her Bristol studio.
