'Memories' - Frank Harwood solo exhibition of paintings and sculptures.

Playful images & sculptures that invoke a sense of nostalgia, with bold lines, repeated patterns, flat space & vibrant colours.

Showing a large selection of Franks work including paintings and sculptures this will be Franks first solo exhibition and we are proud to be showing it here in our Somerset gallery in his home town of Glastonbury. His unique and distinctive style is instantly recognisable. Both his use of colour and brushstrokes are bold and playful.
Frank describes his work as using “a simple comic style,” with bold lines, repeated patterns, flat space and vibrant colours. He is inspired by source images that inspire a collective nostalgia. His paintings hint at a larger and often humorous narrative. Some are reminiscent of Mad Magazine, conveying a lovely innocence, while others are more unsettled and layered, almost as if a German Expressionist made Pop Art.
While Frank’s paintings come to life in vivid acrylics, he is currently experimenting with watercolour, sculpture and construction. Frank cites the “quirky work” of Edward Bawden, Eric Ravilious, John Piper, Walter Sickert, Peter Blake, David Hockney, Tom Phillips and Donald McGill as influences.

The show runs from the 3rd until the 28th of June, with a Private View on Wednesday the 2nd from 6.30-8.30 pm.
