Native American digital occupation Final Event - film screening and artist talk

STTLMNT WINTER PROGRAMME WRAPS UP THIS SATURDAY — 29th May

JOIN US FOR THE FINAL DIGITAL EVENT WITH OUR FRIENDS ON TURTLE ISLAND.

This weekend don’t miss your last chance to participate in STTLMNT, our Native American online occupation.
Lead artist Cannupa Hanska Luger and Razelle Benally from Red Brigade Films will close the STTLMNT programme with a free screening of a thirty minute documentary of life during lockdown.

Director Razelle Benally travelled across Turtle Island (North America) for over a year, gathering footage and stories of STTLMNT participating Indigenous artists in their homelands and studios to spotlight their work and stories, producing a gorgeous series of short documentaries for the STTLMNT Digital Occupation. On Saturday she will premiere her director’s cut.

Saturday 29th 7pm to 8.30pm. To register on Eventbrite follow the link below. This event is free and we will join an audience in the States to be together.

BACKGROUND
It was three years ago that Settlement was originally conceived as a risky physical occupation of Pounds House by thirty Native American artists to commemorate Mayflower 400. Since then many things have happened, not least a global pandemic resulting in an online occupation instead - STTLMNT.

Then First American Art Magazine named STTLMNT in its top 10 list of most impactful Native Arts Events globally in 2020.

This innovative and vibrant website hosts artworks and projects by indigenous artists and will continue as a platform for radical work until October 2021. Find out more. https://www.sttlmnt.org/

STTLMNT is funded by Mayflower 400, Plymouth Culture, Arts Council England, A Blade of Grass and Tulsa Artist Fellowship.
