Portrait Modelling with Luke Shepherd

This workshop is all about portrait sculpture and will suit anybody at any level who wants to work figuratively in 3D.

You will model a small head in clay (10cm) and will move through the key stages of portrait modelling from making a firm foundation to achieving an accurate resemblance. We will work from a plaster cast rather than a live model and your work will be fired when dry. Skills learned will be transferrable for modelling figures or animals.

All materials and firing are included in the fee.

Luke Shepherd is known for his public portrait commissions of Floella Benjamin, Billy Connolly and Christopher Biggins.

On the Day

All tools and materials will be provided. Please bring an apron and wear old clothes.

Tea, coffee and biscuits are provided. Lunch is not included in the ticket fee so please bring a packed lunch.

On arrival please make your way to the side gate of the Riverside Mill, through the courtyard and up the stone stairs on the side of the building. Please let us know if you require the lift.

Please be aware that you cannot use the Co-op car park for all day parking. The Methodist Church car park and Station Road car park usually have plenty of spaces
