Ufuoma Essi - Working With Archive and Found Footage Workshop; ONLINE
Join video artist and filmmaker artist Ufuoma Essi for a closed workshop on working with archives and found footage.
The workshop will be an introduction to working with found footage for moving images and will explore how we can draw from public and personal archives to tell new stories.
No experience is necessarily needed but participants should have access to an editing programme or software they can use free online (editing software like VideoPad).
This workshop is a closed workshop specifically for Black and People of Colour participants based in the South West.

Ufuoma Essi is Rame Projects' UK based emerging resident artist from an African Diaspora, South, East and South East Asian diaspora, or ethnically diverse background.
This residency was made possible with generous support by The Box, Plymouth.
Ufuoma Essi (b. 1995, London) is a video artist and filmmaker from Lewisham, South East London. She works predominantly with film and moving image as well as photography and sound. Her work revolves around Black feminist epistemology and the configuration of displaced histories. The archive forms an essential medium for her and it’s through explorations with the archive that she aims to interrogate and disrupt the silences and gaps of political and historical narratives. Using the rural landscape as a starting point of inspiration and shooting around the local area, Ufuoma will use the residency to advance her skills around processing and experimenting, recording, and working with found footage; and exploring and engaging with The Box Plymouth’s archives and collections to think about ways we can engage and reposition archives based on site specific histories.
